The Bullmastiff impressies by it`s stature and strength.It has a big and wide head and a massive body.Compact and strong,this dog is described like being noble and smart.
The fur is short and shiny,dense and most times brown,sometimes with stripes.An Bullmastiff adult is around 63-69 cm high the male and 61-66 cm high the female,and a body weight of 50-60kg the male and 45-54 kg the female.
Even if it is a robust and strong dog, the Bullmastiff is loyal to it`s family and even friendly.The Bullmastiff`s are known by their intelligence,obedience,courage and loyalty.
Naturally the Bullmastiff takes the role of the protective dog of the family,being devoted and tender even with kids.They feel great around houses with big yards,but can adapt to a life in an apartment if the master is able to take it for a walk pretty often.The medium life length of this dog is between 8 and 10 years.

Hello,
I am looking at buying a guard dog (as a puppy) to protect our home from theifs.
I live on a 5 acre farm, which has a number of different animals including chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, sheep, cows and rabbits to name a few.
I have been told by someone who owns a Bullmastiff that this an ideal dog given our circumstances. He believes that it will leave the animals alone and that it will learn to protect its owners, including any younger children.
What I want is another opinion of the Bullmastiff. Are they indeed okay around other animals, will they leave children alone, even strangers, how active are they, do they require a lot of food?’
I have aslo been told that they can have problems with their eye lids later on in life. I have heard of a case where the eye lids of the Bullmastiff covered its eyes, which led to the eye lids being cut back a bit becuase of the irritation that it caused the dog when it sweated. Can you tell me what other problems they might have?
It seems like a wonderful dog- strong, fearless, loyal, smart and lots of fun to be around.

I have a 5 year old fawn bullmastiff named Tater. I neutered him at about 1 year to keep him from crashing through fences. This is the most loving, gentle and devoted dog I have ever owned. Down side, they crave and demand affection on a minute by minute basis. All in all, make sure if you desire one, you establish authority at a young age and you will have a great devoted companion.
